Scientific expertise
IREMP develops cutting-edge scientific expertise on reef, mesophotic, and deep ecosystems in French Polynesia. Its work focuses in particular on shark ecology and ethology, coral habitat dynamics, vertical migrations, as well as connectivity and spatial use by key species, notably through telemetry tracking.
Our research is based on rigorous scientific approaches, relying on standardized protocols and robust datasets. To achieve this, our team deploys a wide range of operational tools, including acoustic telemetry, photo-identification, BRUVs (Baited Remote Underwater Video Systems), scientific and technical diving using rebreathers (CCR), coral habitat studies, as well as ecological data processing and advanced statistical analyses.
In addition to field activities, IREMP manages databases, produces scientific writing, coordinates projects, and delivers technical reports for institutional partners.
